A floor scarifier is a machine designed to prepare a floor surface by removing excess material.
Scarifier
Description
A scarifier, also called a surface planer, is a machine designed to remove concrete faster and more aggressively than floor grinders. It uses a pummeling action and flails, also known as a multi-tipped cutting wheel, that rotate at high speed to chip away at the concrete surface.
Typically a scarifier is used to remove floor coatings, perform milling, making walkways non-slip through grooving, and leveling of concrete floor surfaces. It normally leaves a rough finish and often creates ridges in concrete. To smooth the surface after scarifying, you will need a grinder to finish up the job.
