A concrete floor grinder is a rather powerful machine, and uses friction to grind down and polish various hard materials. The machine uses an abrasive pad to grind and polish concrete floors to a smooth finish.

Steps in using a concrete floor grinder:

• Before you begin to polish or grind an existing concrete floor, it is a good idea to evaluate the surface condition, and the hardness of the concrete. If need be, begin with a scarifier to level uneven concrete.
• It is a good idea to remove any existing sealants or coatings. Repair or fill any cracks in the concrete.
• You can now move on to the initial rough grinding process. This is the stage whereby you prepare the concrete for final smoothing. For this you would use a diamond abrasive.
• With each lap, or successive pass, you will want to buff out the scratches from the previous pass. An experienced floor grinder will know when to switch to a finer grit level by paying close attention to the floor surface and the amount of material that is removed.
