An extension cable, extension cord or extension lead is a flexible power cable, with a plug on one end, and a socket on the other.
Extension Cable 20m
Description
Extension cables are generally used to route power from an outlet to an area where work is taking place which requires power, but is not located near an existing power source. Our cables come in twenty meter lengths.
As with anything, when working with electricity, there are some safety guidelines to consider:
- Avoid overloading the extension cable.
- Do not run the cable through water on the ground.
- Avoid running the cord through walls, doorways, ceilings or floors. This is because the cord generates heat, and covering it could create a fire hazard.
- Try use the cord for one machine at a time.
- It may sometimes be better to have proper power outlets installed where possible instead of relying on an extension cable.
- Avoid, where possible, linking multiple extension cords together.
- Check the cord for damage before use. If the cord is damaged, or begins heating up during use, stop using the cable immediately and seek a replacement.
- Never use three-prong plugs with outlets that are designed with two slots.
- Do not attempt to remove the ground pin in an attempt to force the plug in.
- Never force a plug into an outlet if it does not fit.
- Extension cables are a temporary measure. Do not use them for permanent power.
