In plumbing, drain rods are used to unblock drains or sewers.
Drain Rods – 2m
Description
These stiff but flexible rods are two meters long and can be screwed together end to end to increase their reach when cleaning and unblocking. Drain rods are one part of a system that also includes drain rod heads. Our drain rods come with a handle for turning the rod into the drain. They can be fitted with either a brush or spiral cutter, and will need to be manually turned into the drain.
Tip: while rodding, it is best practice to use a twisting motion which is in the direction that would tighten the screw connections between drain rods. This will ensure that as the rods progress, they are not unscrewed, which would cause further blocking of the drain.
Depending on the type of drain rod, you may not need to follow the above tip. This is because some types of drain rods have lock tight fittings that clip together, which reduces the likelihood of the rods coming apart whilst turning.
